Obermeyer's intense love of sports and aviation motivated his innovations in cinema. At the age of 18 he had his pilot's license and by 19 he was shooting and editing film. In 2002 he partnered with Lance O'Connor and Skip Short to form Aero Film. It was their goal and shared passion to create a boutique production company of star talents empowered by capable, logistical support.
Obermeyer's style is best described as extreme. Underwater, in the air and extreme action shots are his forte, so much so that he created his own camera called the Klauscam (that flies beneath the helicopter) to capture the shots he wanted.
As an avid surfer, scuba diver, and kite-surfer, he spends a lot of time in the ocean and witnesses firsthand how fragile the eco-system is. Through his work with Oceana, Obermeyer strives to shine a light on these environmental issues.
